Liberto
Liberto is an app made by the people who publish this site. Nothing here is medical advice, and no method on this site — including ours — is presented as guaranteed.

The evidence, not the pitch

What actually happens when you stop.

Day three is the sharpest of it. Liberto is a hypnosis app for stopping smoking and vaping — and this site publishes the timeline, the withdrawal and every method with evidence behind it, including where the evidence for ours is thin.

Liberto is ours. It is one method among several on this site, and the pages about the others do not argue for it.

WHAT PEOPLE USE LIBERTO FOR

The part that is not about willpower.

Stopping is a decision made once and then defended for weeks. These are the moments it is usually lost, and the sessions are built around them.

  • The first three days, when withdrawal is sharpest
  • The craving that arrives with coffee, a drink, or a break outside
  • Falling asleep without the last one of the day
  • The week after a slip, when most attempts quietly end
  • Vaping, where the dose is higher and the device is always in reach
  • The months after, when the habit is gone and the association is not

What a session is.

Guided audio, ten to twenty minutes, with your eyes closed. Not sleep, not loss of control, and nothing happens that you do not choose. The page on hypnosis explains what the clinical reviews found, including where they found nothing.

What this app does not claim.

A Cochrane review found no clear evidence that hypnotherapy performs better than other interventions for stopping smoking, and the trials behind it are small and vary in quality. Nicotine replacement and the prescription medicines varenicline and bupropion have larger bodies of randomised evidence. That is written on the hypnosis page of this site, and it is the reason the other eighteen pages are worth reading.

Nearly two million searches a month are one question asked in different words: how do I stop. More of them are about vaping than about cigarettes. Almost every page answering them is selling the answer.

What is here

The hour-by-hour timeline and what the body does at each stage. Withdrawal, what peaks when, and which symptom ends the most attempts. Every method with trial evidence behind it — patches, gum, prescription medication, cold turkey, apps, hypnosis and the free programmes most people do not know exist — described by what the research found rather than by what it is sold as.

About the app

Liberto is a hypnosis app for stopping smoking and vaping, and it is ours. The page about hypnosis on this site states what the clinical reviews concluded, which is that hypnotherapy has not been shown to beat other methods. A site that hid that would not be worth reading on anything else.
